How It's Done – Dexter Crowe

Dexter Crowe is one of the best pilots of the Icarus Corporation. And the two things he loves most in the world are music and technology. Dexter is a man of contradictions. On one hand, he's a ruthless warrior; on the other, he's a creative soul sensitive to art. Here's how we created his design.

We started with simple character sketches to determine which pose would best reveal his personality. The final choice was the last option, as it best shows Dexter’s dynamism—both as a musician and a fighter

For experimentation, we tried adding a hooded cloak to the character, with and without the hood. But we found it overcomplicated his look, so we discarded it

Then came the modeling stage. As often happens, the character went through several iterations—we adjusted his body position, costume details, and the design and angle of his mechanical arm

Finally, we reached the coloring and final rendering stage. Holographic elements were added to the guitar, and our Dexter gained his face
